Bodycam Review

Bodycam Review

As a result of the development of games with realistic graphics day by day, Bodycam, which offers a hyper-realistic experience in terms of both graphical and gameplay elements, was released. Bodycam is an FPS game with hyperrealist graphics. More precisely, we control the characters from the perspective of the body camera and fish-eye lens that every police officer in America has. This game can be described as an early access masterpiece that even games with the most realistic graphics and gameplay mechanics will respect. If you're looking for a realistic FPS and want more information about Bodycam, read on!

What is Bodycam?

Bodycam is a first-person shooter game developed with the Unreal Engine 5 with realistic graphics and gameplay. It is ideal for players looking for a realistic gunfight experience. Bodycam offers players risks where every movement or decision can result in death or life. Moreover, Bodycam does not contain any HUD such as magazine information, health bar, or crosshair to increase realism. Because of this feature, players need to count their bullets. Not being able to see both the health bar and the number of bullets increases the realism of the game as well as the tension level of the game.

Weapon Variety

The most important feature that makes first-person shooter games stand out and makes them interesting is the variety of weapons. The more diverse weapons an FPS game has, the more fun and challenging it is. Each weapon has its own recoil, spray, range, playstyle, advantages, and disadvantages. Since Bodycam is an early-access game, it has a limited number of different weapons. Rifles that Bodycam offers to players:

  • M4A1
  • AK-47
  • SCAR
  • DRAGUNOV

SMGs:

  • UZI
  • UMP

Shotguns:

  • M870

Pistols:

  • M1911
  • DEAGLE
  • COBRA
  • GLOCK 17

In addition to weapons, you can use two different bombs in the game: grenade and flash. According to the road map announced by the game's developer team, more weapons and explosives will be added to the game in 2024.

Basic Movements

Bodycam offers players realism in both graphics, gameplay, and movement schemes. Continuously running in Bodycam will cause your character to become tired and out of breath. Additionally, if you try to run while crouching, your character's movement speed will increase at a rate that will not affect the game. If your character is bleeding or injured, your movement speed will decrease, and the character will scream in pain.

Positioning and Day and Night Cycle

Since the game has realistic graphics and no guidance, you must use shadows, darkness, and your trusty headset to find your enemies or avoid them finding you. When you're hiding in the shadows under a staircase with a character and scanning a partially dark area with your eyes, whether or not to turn on your weapon's flashlight can become a deadly decision. While your first option is to turn on your weapon's flashlight to see your enemy more easily, your second option is to protect your privacy and not be able to see the enemy that may be in front of you in order not to reveal your location. These difficult choices continue from the beginning of the game to the end of the round, and wrong choices may cause you to lose the round.

Moreover, the game features a dynamic day and night cycle. This cycle is important not only for the sky but also for the angles of light reflected from objects. For example, while you may assume that there is an enemy in the room when you see a glare during the day, at night you may realize that what you see is just the sun reflecting from the mirror in the room. In addition, since the position of the shadows of objects constantly changes thanks to the day and night cycle, you always need to plan according to the current conditions.

Bodycam Game Mods

Bodycam offers players three different gameplay modes in addition to training. Before jumping into any of these modes, we recommend that you complete the training mode that the game offers and get used to the mechanics of the game. Although you have access to a limited number of weapons in the training mode, it is important for you to understand the basics of the game and discover the recoil rate of the weapons.

Team Death Match

Team deathmatch mode, one of the three gameplay modes offered by Bodycam, is useful for both getting used to the game and acting as a team. If you decide to experience the game with your friends, you can enter this mode together and get used to not shooting at each other and detecting opponents. This game is realistic in every way, including detecting enemies or spotting your teammates. It is possible to accidentally shoot your teammate or be shot by your teammates.

The purpose of the team deathmatch is to divide the players into two different teams and continue the round until one of the two teams is completely dead. Your only goal in this mode is to kill all members of the opposing team and survive as a team.

Deathmatch

Deathmatch, the most instructive game mode of the game, is a game mode in which each player is responsible only for themselves and everyone can be revived unlimitedly until the end of the given time, or the target score is reached. In this mode, your goal is to survive alone and have the highest kill score. Additionally, since you will be reborn with a different weapon every time you die, you can get used to all the weapons and develop your own strategies.

Body Bomb

If you have experienced games such as CS2, Valorant, and R6, you are familiar with this game mode. The aim of the Body Bomb game mode is for one of the two teams to plant an explosive bomb, while the other team prevents the bomb from being placed. In this game mode, after you die, you will control a drone instead of your character. By controlling this drone, you can give information to your team, reveal enemies or, like me, quickly crash into a wall and render your drone useless.

Upcoming Game Mods

According to the roadmap they published, the game's developer team plans to add a zombie mode to the game in the 3rd quarter of 2024. This game mode is expected to be a fight for survival against computer-controlled zombies. This gameplay mode excites the player base both because of the realism of the game and because it resembles a horror game rather than a shooter. Moreover, the developers of the game announced that they would add a different mode to the game in the last quarter of 2024. However, since they do not share any details about this mode, we do not have information beyond our guesses.
