Finding the Chimera Core
You'll have to retrieve the core of the Chimera in the mission "Lucretia My Reflection", after a tense showdown against the Chimera. Finding the core, however, is not an easy task.
You won't see the core on your HUD when you begin "Lucretia My Reflection" and it is incredibly inconspicuous. You can find it on the side of the Chimera that is closest to the exit hall, close to where Meyers stands. You can use the minimap as a guide to help you locate this important component.
How to Defeat Them the Chimera
You must defeat the mechanical behemoth Chimera in two difficult phases before you can secure its core. Let's look at the two phases of the Chimera and the strategy to defeat it.
Phase 1: Destroy Weak Points
The first phase is where you must eliminate the Chimera’s weak spots, which are indicated by the yellow glowing sections that cover its massive frame. How to do it effectively:
- Equip yourself with a weapon that has a long range or a scope so you can shoot safely from a distance.
- Use cover to avoid lasers and gatling gun attacks from Chimera.
- Save the turrets on this floor for Phase 2 as they will be more beneficial.
- Check the corners and explore the upper floors for more weapons.
- Use grenades on weak spots that are hard to reach, and especially those hidden from your line of vision.
- Use quickhacks in order to temporarily immobilize Chimera. This will allow you to better target its weak spots.
- Prioritize destroying drones that have yellow symbols when they are repairing the Chimera.
Phase 2: Get the Chimera Core
During the second stage, you should position yourself on a staircase to avoid the toxic gas of Chimera and cover up with columns and walls against the laser and missile attacks. This phase involves:
- Use your strongest weapons to take on the Chimera.
- The two turrets can be used to significantly reduce Chimera’s health. They have rapid fire capabilities.
- Use the Cripple Movement and Cyberware Malfunction quickhacks in order to temporarily disable Chimera’s devastating attacks.
- Chimera will stop firing when its health drops to 2%. This is the perfect time to open a hatch and throw a grenade into it to defeat this powerful Militech robot.
After defeating Chimera the quest "Spider and the Fly", will end, and you can claim the Chimera Core. If you cannot find the core, go to your journal and look for the "Take Chimera's' Core (Optional)." Task. This will display the symbol on your HUD.
