Lilith, known as The Queen of the Succubi, is a powerful demon caught up in an eternal conflict between High Heavens and Burning Hells. In search for sanctuary from this ceaseless war, she fell in love with Archangel Inarius and together they gave birth to a new race called Nephalem by creating Sanctuary as their place for refuge.
This union was seen as an abomination by both sides due to its immense power which eventually led both forces turning their attention towards it and slaughtering many Nephalem before they could grow too strong. In desperation, Lilith went mad and sought vengeance against Heaven and Hell instead of protecting her family; leading Inarius no other choice than exiling her to The Void for he couldn’t bring himself to kill his former love even though she had become tyrannical.
As time passed by Nephalem evolved into what we know today as humans making it near impossible to distinguish who belonged from which race so when Diablo 4 beings players will be faced with a cult dedicated to Lilith that has managed restoring her back now that all Prime Evils have been decimated by events occurred in Diablo 3 game-play.
Lilith will take center stage as main antagonist since she seeks revenge against those who wronged her while also trying building an army with help from player characters – who likely are descendants from different races -and possibly Inarius factor into story again after having reunited with his former love once again seeing how Sanctuary is mostly rid off Angels or Demons interference . However players should be weary since achieving peace might not justify some ruinous actions taken by our main villainess during process .
