God of War Ragnarök First Look

When playing God of War Ragnarök PC, every player’s biggest concern was that this game would be similar to the previous God of War game. God of War Ragnarök has elements that are similar to the previous game and feel new. The parts of the game that feel old and repetitive are developing weapons, unlocking abilities, and combat mechanics. Instead of designing new abilities and power levels, the game’s development team resets the abilities that existed in the previous game and adds new attack types and abilities to them, presenting them again in God of War Ragnarök. If you’ve just experienced the first game in the series, you may be annoyed by having to unlock the same abilities again when you sit down to play God of War Ragnarök.

The new aspect of the game is related to the story rather than the gameplay. Every player has wondered about the finale of the first game and what will happen next. This game answers some of your questions and presents the story fluently except for a few sequences, while also opening the door to new questions. If you enjoyed the first game and want to consume the story content that continues with the same gameplay tempo, God of War Ragnarök will be an enjoyable game for you.

God of War Ragnarök Gameplay Mechanics

God of War Ragnarök, just like the first game, offers players three different weapons and abilities that are shaped around these weapons. The weapons you can use in the GoW Ragnarök game are a shield, axe, and chaos sword. If you like the weapon you used to slaughter the gods in the original trilogy of the GoW series, we are sure you will enjoy the chaos sword abilities in GoW Ragnarök.

The game's skill system is built around attacks that can be made with the shield, parries, throwing axes, freezing enemies with the axe, and executing opponents by making area attacks with the chaos sword. While the shield is generally functional for deflecting attacks and making low-damage fast attacks, the axe is functional for making heavy attacks, applying ice effects to enemies, and throwing them far away, and the chaos swords are functional for making area attacks and killing large groups of enemies in one go.

God of War Ragnarök Builds

God of War Ragnarök has continued the developments it made in the first trilogy, adding new attack types and abilities to existing weapons in this game. In fact, the game's development team has added so many abilities to the game that you even have the chance to create a partial build at one point. In other words, it is possible to experience the same Kratos with different gameplay styles.

However, GoW Ragnarök is an action-adventure game at its core, so it doesn’t offer build options as deep as a role-playing game. The maximum build options you can make in this game are based on axes and ice, shields and melee, chaos swords and area attacks. These builds are possible with weapon abilities and marks that you can apply to armor. While the marks that you can apply to armor change your attack patterns, you can increase the damage you deal with a weapon by increasing your proficiency level by using that weapon continuously.

Weapon Charging

Another gameplay mechanic that God of War Ragnarök offers players is that the power of the weapon accumulates as you continue to attack with the same weapon. When the weapon's power bar is full, you can unlock new gameplay, attack styles, and get the maximum damage potential of your weapon. This mechanic is ideal for using the same weapon and designing a Kratos build focused on a single weapon.

GoW Ragnarök Environment Interactions

Environmental interaction, which is also present in God of War but is not preferred by players, has been enriched in GoW Ragnarök. With the improved environmental interaction in GoW Ragnarök, you can quickly recognize the environmental elements you can use and attack your enemies by throwing the stones you find at them or uprooting trees. In games like GoW Ragnarök where the gameplay is repetitive, enriching the gameplay with such mechanics is necessary to maintain the immersive experience of the players.

Enemy Designs

In the first GoW game, we all wanted more enemy variety and strategic battles. The game's development team responded to our requests by increasing the enemy variety in the GoW Ragnarök game. The game's high enemy variety is necessary for us to enter satisfying battles using our weapons and abilities and to fill the power bar of our weapons.

God of War Ragnarök Graphics Quality

God of War Ragnarök’s graphics in the initial hours of gameplay are notably similar to its 2018 predecessor. The game's graphics engine and texture quality are designed to closely resemble the first game. However, Ragnarök offers players an epic visual feast in terms of animation and environmental design. The integration of new gameplay mechanics into the environmental design and the enhanced visual cues for interactive elements significantly increase the player's enjoyment. These improvements are particularly noticeable as you progress further into God of War Ragnarök, elevating the overall gaming experience.

God of War Ragnarök offers a story to the players and supports this with the facial expressions and appearances of the characters. For this reason, the facial and body animations, and details of the characters in the game are at a high level. While experiencing the game, you will love some characters and get incredibly angry with some thanks to the facial expressions and animations of the characters.

Is God of War Ragnarök Worth Playing?

If you are an old God of War fan and are curious about Kratos’ life after slaughtering the gods, God of War Ragnarök is definitely a sequel you should try. If you have experienced the first game of the new GoW series, we are sure that you will try this game without even thinking about it.

If you are new to the God of War series and miss the traditional high-quality graphics and compelling storyline, then GoW Ragnarök is designed for you. In this game, you will experience the story of both Kratos and his son and get clues about the new path the series will take!
