The Witcher 3 Story
Beginning of the Story
At the start of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Geralt tracks down Yennefer with his master, Vesemir. At this point, Geralt dreams of the time he spent with Yennefer. The childhood of Ciri, one of the key characters of the game, is also included in this dream.
The reason the duo is on the road is that they travel to the White Orchard. Geralt has heard a rumor that Yennefer was last seen at the White Orchard. White Orchard is one of the towns occupied by Nifgaard. Geralt meets Yennefer by completing quests here. Yennefer works with the soldiers of Nilfgaar.
Yennefer tells Geralt that the emperor of Nilfgaar wants to see her. Wild Hunt chases them as the duo set off for Vizima. Yennefer and Geralt barely escape the Wild Hunt. The Nilfgaar emperor Emhyr var Emreis asks Geralt to find Ciri. Emhry is Ciri's biological father. Geralt accepts the quest because his goal is also to find Ciri.
Following Ciri's Traces
Geralt travels to the three main cities where Ciri was last seen. The first of these cities is a poor city called Velen. Geralt contacts the bloody baron, the leader of the region. The bloody baron tells that Ciri has been in Velen recently. However, he asks Geralt to solve his problems before he can reveal more. The bloody Baron asks Geralt to find his missing wife and daughter. Geralt investigates to solve the bloody baron's problems. When Geralt completes his quest, he learns more about Ciri. According to the Baron, Ciri was injured while rescuing one of the baron's men. After staying with them for a while, she rescues the Baron from a basilisk. Afterwards, Ciri Wild Hunt set off for Novigrad without finding her.
Novigrad
Novigrad is a city of people persecuted by a religious group called the eternal fire. Sorcerers, witches, non-humans, and commoners are routinely and systematically racist and executed. Here, Geralt gets help from one of his old friends, Triss. Triss tells him that Dandelion might know about Ciri. Geralt saves Dandelion and interrogates him. When it turns out that Dandelion knows nothing, he meets Roche. At this point in the story, Geralt helps Triss save all the witches and wizards from the city.
Skellige
Unable to find Ciri in Velen and Novigrad, Geralt sets out on a ship to Skellige. Geralt meets Yennefer at Skellige. The two go in search of Ciri with a mask found in the Druids' lab. Ciri was injured while escaping the Wild Hunt and spent time there. As a result of what Geralt learned here, he realizes that the creature called Uma, whom he encountered in Velen, has a connection with Ciri.
Uma
Geralt takes Uma to Kaer Morhen to lift the curse on him. Yennefer and other witchers collaborate to lift the curse. After the curse on Uma is lifted, it is revealed that he is a magician elf. As a result of the information Geralt received from the elf, he learns that Ciri is on the Isle of Mists.
Finding Ciri
Geralt returns to Kaer Morhen with Ciri from the Isle of Mists. Yennefer, the witchers, and the people Geralt helped gather in Kaer Morhen to fight the Wild Hunt. After Wild Hunt gains the upper hand in battle, Vesemir dies for Ciri to escape. Ciri uses her magic to defeat the Wild Hunt.
End of the Story
Ciri defeats the three witches, and Geralt defeats a leader of the Wild Hunt. Geralt, Ciri, and the sorceresses trap the Wild Hunt. Geralt kills Eredin, the main leader of the Wild Hunt. However, Eredin tells Geralt that the real danger is the elven wizard. The story has three different endings at this point. Depending on how the player plays the game, Ciri can die, Ciri can survive, or Ciri and Geralt can live together.
