YORG.io Review

YORG.io Review

YORG.io can be described as a fun game about supply chains and zombies. Your goal is to survive for as long as possible while enduring as many enemy waves. You can divide the game into night and day. You will be safe during the day, so you should use this time to prepare your base.

You can place a transporter to connect your mines to your base if they are not connected. For defense and survival, defensive towers are necessary. You will also need to build factories to make them. We have already mentioned the importance of supply lines. At night, zombies will infiltrate your buildings and spawn. The zombies become stronger every day and a zombie boss is born for every 10 waves. When your Base is destroyed, the game is over.

6Average
  • A very good strategy game
  • Suitable for playing again
  • Creative game design
  • There are some severe shortcomings in the UI
  • Some technical issues

Each game starts with a different configuration of resources. This configuration is important to consider when you are deciding where to place your base. Each tower has its own strengths and weaknesses. They should be placed carefully so that you can use them to their full potential. Make sure they are always stocked with ammo.

What About the Zombies?

Zombies are becoming more dangerous as the hours turn to night. The abilities Zombies develop will be challenging for even the most powerful defenses. Every 10 waves, The Dread Overlord will appear. It will take all your efforts to defeat this boss. It is not to be underestimated! There is no limit to how long you can play the game. Therefore, the more time you remain alive, the higher your rank in the leaderboard. Show your friends who is the best defender.

This adds an exciting logistic twist and skill tree to traditional tower defense as you will need to take risks to maintain your supply. Also, the game requires strategy, not micromanagement. It is something to keep in mind before playing. Overall, the game is great compared to its price and can be played flawlessly on Linux with Steam Play.

Downsides

However, not everything is sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows. It is clearly a web-based game. Your base grows and performance suffers. The attack waves feel more like slideshows. Although there are ways to disable effects or reduce lag, the game is already so minimalistic that you don't have something to look at. Also while enemies become stronger and have more abilities, there is no way to inspect them and there is no way to see how full your transporters are. There is no way to determine which factory supplies ammunition for your weapons.

Deserves a Shot

At the end, yorg.io is a unique mix of elements that we like. However, the logistics and technical issues were a problem. Despite that, I enjoyed the core mechanics and will probably return to it occasionally.
